Undergraduate Research
Jeong Lab at the Emerging Pathogens Institute
I am working on an experiment exploring bacterial genomics with an emphasis on methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, and am overseen by Dr. KC Jeong, and Yuting Zhai. I am utilizing whole genome analysis to compare virulence factors, mobile genetic elements, resistance genes, phylogenetic relatedness, etc. mrsa in order to better understand host specificity, colonization and dissemination. I'm submitting my paper Comparative Whole-Genome Analysis of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus to Understand Genetic Features Associated with Host Adaptation and Dissemination in both Humans and Food Animals for publication this year.
The Wellness Project
Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church
Initiative aiming to provide resources, education, and peer support to student in campus ministries across the state of Florida. Additionally, we are working to educate and equip church staff who support and interact with youth and young adults in ministry to better enable them to support students. I have served on the design team, as a participant in the pilot cohort, and as a facilitator for a cohort of students from Gainesville, FL. This initiative consists of efforts from people all across the state.
